Neuro - To do with the mind and nervous system and how information is received and processed internally What can NLP be used for? Some examples of common problems and areas where NLP can help are as follows: Traditional therapists or counsellers tend to spend a lot of time analysing and trying to fix the past and as So what is it that each person is doing inside of him/herself to have these different There is so much information coming at us all day long and from all angles that it is impossible to take it all in. So what happens is that our brain filters this information through the five senses, taking some information in and leaving out the rest. Each of us filters this information differently depending on which sense we favour i.e whether we prefer to learn by seeing, hearing or doing. When an event comes in Where did NLP come from? Linguistic - How we use language to communicate experiences to ourselves and others.
Programming - The ability to organise our communication and strategies to achieve specific results.
NLP is used to achieve results and change in every area of life including, personal, business and sport.
Some common examples are as follows:
a result many people know why they have a particular issue or problem but don't know how to change
it. I use NLP to help you change what you are doing in your mind and body, which is determining how you
feel right now in the present, so that you can move towards what you want to achieve in the future.
How does NLP work?
We are all different in the way in which we experience and perceive the world. For example, two people can
be given the exact same message at the same time about some change which is to occur, be it in a personal
or a professional capacity and have different reactions to it. One person may view it as a positive challenge,
a change for the better while the other thinks "that will never work" or sees it as just yet another thing to add
to his/her load. Similarly two people are boarding the same flight. One person is filled with fear and the other
takes it in his/her stride.
reactions to the same thing?
through our sensory channels we process it by deleting, distorting and generalising it based on our our beliefs, values,
past experiences and memories, thereby creating a unique personal perception which influences how we feel, relate
and react to that event.
If you continue to do what you you've always done you will only get more of the same. NLP assists positive
change by using a range of techniques to re-code, re-pattern and re-program the way information is
processed and stored in our brains hence altering the emotional and physiological behaviours associated with it.
NLP provides us with choice; once you understand what it is that you are doing internally to limit yourself you can change
it and have choices in how you feel, think and react to events and situations. This opens up new opportunites and helps
you to achieve whatever it is you want to achieve.
NLP was developed in the 1970s by Richard Bandler and John Grinder following their intensive studies of the
works of three of the greatest therapists of their time, Virginia Satir, developer of Conjoint Family Therapy,
Fritz Perls, the founder of Gestalt Therapy and Milton Erickson, considered by many to be the greatest
hypnotherapist of all time. Instead of examining their work and results simply from a psychology point
of view, they focused their study on how the therapists' unconscious use of language produced results.
Following on from this, further studies and modelling were undertaken of other therapists, great
communicators, entrepreneurs, experts in sports and other fields, as well as of people who made profound
changes in their lives. Bandler and Grinder were not overly concerned about why people had the problems or
issues they had, they were interested in what worked to fix them.
What will happen during a session?
As we are all unique and have different filters and perceptions which influence our behaviour and outlook on things
there is no set structure. Every NLP session is relaxed, flexible and tailored to meet your needs with issues being
addressed by a combination of NLP techniques and methods including relaxation and hypnosis if required. Used in
conjunction with hypnosis, NLP is a powerful tool which is used to make enduring change. You will also be shown
how to use some of these techniques so that when you leave you can apply them to other areas of your life now
and in the future.
How many sessions will I need?
Everyone is different therefore each
session is bespoke to the individual and his/her particular
circumstances. Some people will only require one visit, while others
may require 2-3 sessions. Our aim is to give sufficient time in the
crucial first session to ensure that a minimum number of sessions is
required which is why the first session lasts 2 hours. Follow-up
sessions are either 1 hour or 1.5 hours depending on preference.
If you feel NLP would be beneficial but still have some concerns, why not come to one of our free taster evenings.
It is a great way to find out more and you can also chat to me & others there and ask any questions you may have.
